What site clearance covers

Clearing buildings, rubble and concrete before or after a demolition. This is not house or garden clearance.

  • Concrete and brick crushed on site
  • Rubble taken away
  • Ground left level
  • Waste transfer notes for every load

What happens after you call

  1. You call or send the form

We talk through the building, the site, access and your programme.

  2. Site visit and written quote

We walk the site, check the neighbouring buildings and services, and quote in writing.

  3. Surveys and notices

An asbestos survey comes first. The Section 80 notice goes to the council, which has up to 6 weeks to reply. Gas and electricity are cut off before work starts. The guide explains each rule: Before you demolish.

  4. Method statement

Written before work begins, as CDM 2015 regulation 20 requires, and shared with you.

  5. Demolition

Top-down demolition with a 360 excavator, water to keep the dust down, and a banksman on the ground.

  6. Clearance and waste

Rubble crushed on site or taken away, the ground left level, and waste transfer notes kept for 2 years.

Questions before you start

The guide explains the rules on council notices, asbestos surveys and waste.

Read the guide

Can you crush the rubble on site?

Yes. Concrete and brick rubble can be crushed on site with a mobile crusher, so less of it leaves the site by lorry. Our commercial demolition video shows a crusher working beside one of our excavators.

Do you do house or garden clearance?

No. Site clearance here means clearing buildings, rubble, concrete and hard standing before or after a demolition. For furniture and household items, use a registered waste carrier that does house clearance. For trees and gardens, use a tree surgeon or landscaper.

What happens to the waste?

Only a carrier with an upper tier Environment Agency registration may take away demolition waste for you. Check the carrier on the public register before the first load leaves. We are registered as an upper tier waste carrier, broker and dealer (registration CBDU447191). Concrete and brick can be crushed on site. Each load leaves with a waste transfer note, and the law requires those notes to be kept for 2 years, or 3 years for hazardous waste such as asbestos.
