How we work responsibly

We are registered with the Environment Agency as an upper tier waste carrier, broker and dealer (registration CBDU447191, valid to 29 July 2028). Waste is separated on site into skips and roll-on roll-off containers, and concrete and brick can be crushed on site, so less of it leaves by lorry.

Every load leaves with a waste transfer note and goes to an authorised site. The law requires us to keep those notes for 2 years, and hazardous waste records for 3 years.

We damp the work down with water as the building comes down, so dust stays on the site and out of the street and the neighbours' gardens.

Councils can set working hours, noise levels and the plant allowed on a demolition site under Section 60 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974. Where a job needs it, prior consent can be agreed with the council under Section 61 before work starts.

The occupiers of the buildings next door receive a copy of the Section 80 notice before work starts. A banksman on the ground keeps people and vehicles clear of the machines while we work.
